The Asociation

The Associaicó Aikido Kenshukai Barcelona (Kobayashi Ryu AIkido) is a non-profit association whose objective is the diffusion of Aikido in all areas of our present, as a vehicle for peace and harmony in the world, proposing to its members, through what the practice of Aikido can bring them, to achieve a better relationship with themselves and consequently with their environment.

Our desire is to make known and share with the society in which we live, what serves us as the engine of our receca. Through events and interventions in all fields sensitive to our message of peace and harmony, such as art in all its forms, cultural diversity, education and human relations.

Free will and personal commitment are at the center of our activity, without promoting ideas or tendencies that go against the free expression of each individual. Only respect for the technique (as a fair and common language within the conflict), for the predecessors (for the transmission of their experience within the path), for the principles of budo (stopping the spear), for non-violent ethics and physical and moral integrity of the other.

Our association adopts the motto of our school: no submission, no domination, no arrangement; respect, humility, loyalty. Our ultimate goal being the access of each individual to his own consciousness, to know himself.

Kobayashi Hirokazu Soshu (1929 – 1998) Born in Osaka, he was one of the great disciples of O sensei Ueshiba Morihei. He began teaching Aikido in Europe from 1964.
Kobayashi Hirokazu's Aikido practice involves a use of the body that goes far beyond the simple control of the body by the will or the development of reflexes. The specificity of his teaching is based on principles such as the Meguri (spiral of energy) and the Ki no Musubi (link of union between the attacker and the attacked). The foundation of all his Aikido is established on the ethical dimension. In 1998, shortly before he died, he founded the international school Kokusai Aikido Kenshukai Kobayashi Hirokazu Ryu and named his direct student, Cognard André Hanshi, as its technical director.
